IEA Releases 2023 Breakthrough Agenda Report

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released the 2023 edition of its Breakthrough Agenda Report, highlighting progress and challenges in key sectors on the path to net zero emissions. The report underscores the urgent need for accelerated action to achieve climate goals.
The report reveals that while more than two-thirds of the global economy is covered by the Breakthrough Agenda, with endorsement from 45 countries and organizations, the buildings and cement sectors are lagging behind in reaching net-zero emissions targets. The report emphasizes the need for enhanced efforts to drive innovation and scale up solutions in these vital sectors.
"The Breakthrough Agenda Report 2023 provides a clear roadmap for urgent climate action," said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol. "It identifies critical areas where we need to intensify our collective efforts to decarbonize key sectors and achieve our net-zero ambition."
